Interview with: Lupin

The positive and colorful universe of Lupin made us want to know a bit more about him. (VJing May 21 with Paul de Valsonje/Quatre Records)

-What’s the Mapping Festival for you?
Lupin: The European meeting of the artistic avant-garde and video techniques, an incredible party during 10 days and great people to get to know.

- What are you going to present here?
Lupin: A colorful VJ set, with some pixel art and eccentric absurdities.

- Any highlights/crush?
Lupin: It’s hard to say. Human body and video, as well as immersion are very present this year. I can’t wait to see Supermafia’s performance, Legoman and Mandril’s collaboration or CENC audiovisual performance. But every year this festival astonishes us with brilliant acts we maybe didn’t expect.

Greie Gut Fraktion + People Like Us

Focus: Tonight, Saturday 21 (7.30pm), at the Fonderie Kugler. Avant-garde projects await you: GENRE COLLAGE by People Like Us that examines the concept of  cinematographic “genre”. And BAUSTELLE by Greie Gut Fraktion and its guided tour on the world’s construction sites and some electronic poetry. Prior to the performances, we warmly invite you to a casual conversation with the artists, as a possibility to learn more about their artistic practice, inspiration and engagement.

Interview with: Supermafia

Dans notre série d’entretiens avec les artistes, c’est cette fois Laurent Novac qui s’y colle. Leur performance INFLATABLE DANCEFLOOR se déroulera ce vendredi 20 mai à la Fonderie Kugler (22h). Our collection of short interviews continues today and it’s with Laurent Novac from Supermafia today. Their INFLATABLE DANCEFLOOR performance will stay in our memories for a long time…

-  What’s the Mapping Festival for you?

Laurent Novac: It’s a unique audiovisual event. First, because  it’s in Switzerland. There are other audiovisuel festivals but this one is very particular due to its importance but also to its human size.

- What are you going to present here?

LN: Our performance has the particularity of creating elements of surprise. The idea is to do something fast and immersive. It’s not only about clubbing, there will also be some beautiful visual installations.

- Any highlights/crush?

LN: CENC, not only because we know them. They are great performers. Musically, it’s definitely OneMan. He came once in Neuchâtel and it was totally mad.

INTERVIEW WITH: ELENA MONTESINOS

To present you some of our artists, the Mapping Festival has done a couple of short interviews with some of them. For the premiere, Elena Montesinos answers our questions. She (The Montesinos Foundation) will expose her YOUTRIBE at BAC, in collaboration with Petter Viasselfebb.

What is the Mapping Festival for you?

Elena Montesinos:  A very special moment for our city, when suddenly everyone becomes very high-tech. The annual meeting for geeks from Geneva and around the world.

What will you present here?

EM: YOUTRIBE. A mash-up from scenes found on Youtube, produced and projected on an inflatable screen.

Any highlights/crush in our 2011 program?

EM: Family first, i’d recommend you my sister Water Lilly. She hasn’t played live for a while in Geneva so we’re looking forward to see her new show. May 21 with Simian Mobile Disco and Paul de Valsonje.
