Youtribe: Mapping Festival Profile

YOUTRIBE by THE MONTESINOS FOUNDATION & PETTER VIASSELFEBB

The installation YOUTRIBE uses “Youtube” as a sociological tool. The sequences filmed by amateurs are put up together in amazingly barmy “mash-ups”. The sequences taken from the Internet and assembled in pairs have nothing to envy to a Dadaist collage and give life to an artistic performance of the most mind-boggling nature. Human Comedy is having a field day and the result is projected on two inflatable screens installed for the occasion by the Montesinos Foundation and Petter Viasselfebb .

IN THE WOODS by CAMILLE SCHERRER
chipchip.ch

Camille Scherrer is a Swiss designer exploring intersections between art and technology. She focuses on interactive installations of augmented reality, where subtle computer imagery flirts with perceived reality. Camille gets her inspiration from the mountains where she grew up and created her own universe populated by animals from the wood. With her new project, Camille plays with animals’ shadows with which the audience can create a conversation with.

A work by Australian visual artist Kit Webster, ENIGMATICA III is a visual experience that distorts reality and destabilizes its audience by using stimulation and loss of perception. The sculpture consists of ten suspended frames that diminish in size down the length of the gallery.

Mapping Festival Profile: Citymedia Project & Body Double Workshop

FILMED AT MAPPING FESTIVAL – GENEVA – MAY 2011

CITYMEDIA PROJECT AND BODY DOUBLE WORKSHOP led by Douglas E. Stanley
Partnership Mapping Festival/ Master Media Design Head – Geneva
head.hesge.ch/

Body Double looks at various methods of integrating Kinect sensors into interactive installations and performances. Two methods of vision capture are explored : the first dealing with detecting body morphology and the second dedicated to analyzing points in space. A development library already in use by the CityMedia project is used as a starting point. After a brief introduction to the tools, workshop participants built prototypes which were then applied directly onto the City Media system.
